Where the Trail Began

Trailhead didn’t start with funding, staff, or a big nonprofit plan. It started with a family, Matt, Jess, and their daughter Ryleigh, and a simple belief: Every child deserves a bike. In a small shop in La Crosse, the three of us began restoring old bicycles together. Piece by piece, chain by chain, we turned forgotten bikes into freedom and joy for kids in our community. No big team. No budget.
Just love, grit, and a mission built at the kitchen table and in the shop. Today, the work continues the same way it began, family-powered, community-inspired, and driven by the belief that a bicycle can change a life.
